about it in articles about the Annual Meeting which have

Magnetic Church Conference Provides
Ideas for Evangelism at Grace |
Jim Edgy and Allen Reed attended a conference
presented by Andrew D. Weeks on Jan 19th and 20th, held
at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chillicothe. The
conference was sponsored by The East Region of The
Diocese of Southern Ohio. One hundred and four people
attended the Saturday session.
The conference was titled The Magnetic Church:
Practical evangelism to help your own church attract,
welcome and retain new members. Mr. Weeks, a gifted
lay evangelist and a humorous, inspiring speaker
presented many ideas on the "nuts and bolts" of
attracting and retaining new members.
Some of the ideas we hope to institute at Grace in
the near future are:
- clear labelling of our entrances for visitors,
- a welcome brochure,
- a greeting ministry.
Greeters, separate
and distinct from ushers, focus solely on making
newcomers feel comfortable and welcome.
Nametags
at the monthly coffee hour, if not at every service, is
also a possibility.
The conference was so successful that the Diocese is
considering presenting it in the fall, in Cincinnati.
All Grace members are encouraged to attend if this
happens.
