"Got Questions" Group Meets this Sunday at Noon
Our discussion of
the book "Faith Club" was so interesting that the group
decided to continue our after-church conversations, but to
focus on the questions we have about our faith.
The first meeting of the new "Got Questions" group will
be brunch meeting this Sunday at noon at Bennyce
Hamilton's home at 6708 Devonwood Lane in College Hill.
Maps to Bennyce's home will be available at the service.
This is the first of a series of brunch meetings that
will take place on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of every month,
until we run out of interesting questions. Everyone is
invited to attend any or all of these meetings, which will
be held at various parishioner's homes.

What Questions?
A couple of Sundays ago,
interested folks met after church to begin to list some of the
questions we might discuss in our "Got Questions?" group.
Here's the "starter" list that we came up with.
- Why am I now a Christian?
- How does Jesus dying 2000 years ago atone for my sins?
- What do we know about Jesus and how do we know it?
- What happens after we die?
- How important is a person's religious beliefs in
connection with politics?
- Do we have to believe in the Trinity?
- Is anybody excluded from heaven?
- Is there a line to be drawn between "them" and "us?"
- What are the implications of my faith for me today?
- Am I a Christian?
- Is being a Christian being violent?
- Why is Old Testament violence in the bible?
- Why, when God acts, does someone have to die?
- Why is there so little in the bible that Jesus said?
This Sunday, we will add more questions, and then will
pick one to start with. |
Got a DVD Burner?
Ken Lyon, who will be facilitating the "Got Questions?"
group, would like to show a short video at the first session
this Sunday. However, he needs someone with a DVD
burner on their PC to transfer the video to a DVD disk.
If you could do this, please contact Ken at ken@lyonhouse.us or
513-542-2941.
