Third Common Ministry Workshop--Identifying Our Passions

The last of the current series of Common Ministry workshops will be conducted Sunday following the service and will be repeated the following Thursday, May 20, at 6:30 pm.

What for you is the world's deep hunger that you are passionate about? What issues move you to action? If you could pick one thing that most concerns you or most needs to be taken care of in this world, what would it be?

You'll share your answers to these questions with others at this workshop.

Previous workshops asked us to reflect on the gifts of the people who most influenced us in our lives, and to identify our own God-given gifts. You do not have to have attended the previous workshops to benefit from this one.

Common Ministry chairperson Carol Lyon identifies three reasons you'll want to attend, besides the fact that it's been fun for the participants:
  1. It's a great personal growth opportunity--you'll discover things about yourself that you may not have fully realized.
  2. You'll  learn interesting things from those others whom you meet in church on Sunday mornings.
  3. It will help prepare Grace Church for a more vibrant future by as we learn more about our gifts and passions.
Bogus Bible Q&A

Q. What do they call pastors in Germany ?

A. German Shepherds.
Healing Service Tonight (Wednesday)

Our monthly Celebration of Wholeness and Healing is tonight (Wednesday). This service draws people to Grace from all over Greater Cincinnati. Last month, over 80 attended.

Liturgist Hawley Todd writes:

Dear Friends,
What are you doing for your own self-care and wholeness?

Lately I have been hearing lots of healers and care-givers express a theme of pouring themselves out for others and not taking the time to receive themselves.   We all need to receive God's grace!!!

Please join us this Wednesday at Grace Church for another Celebration of Wholeness and Healing. Drumming starts around 6:30.  The liturgy is at 7:00.  Healing goes on and on.

Come whenever you are able and stay as long as you desire.  I'll turn off the lights and lock up when we are done.

Healing and caring for others begins with taking time and opportunities to care for ourselves and receive.

Come and join us and be filled with God's grace.
Read more about this service here. See pictures here.

Volunteers Needed

The parolee work day and lunch is coming up May 27 from  9 am to 1 pm. Parolees come to Grace to help us improve our "curb appeal." We need supervisors (contact David Mukasa if interested) and cooks (contact Grace Staples).  Or call the office.

The Interfaith Hospitality Network (Family Promise) family shelter at College Hill Presbyterian is coming Friday, June 25. This is the night to which Grace Church has committed to supply all volunteers and evening meal. We need prepared entrees or side dishes (for up to 18 people, you will get a count beforehand), dinner hosts and overnight hosts to serve from 8 pm to 7 am. Call Grace Staples at 513-251-3538 if you have questions before volunteering.
Report on the Grace Church Music Program Available

John Thayer has written a report on the state of music at Grace Church. The report presents a good picture of our music program's past, its current status, and makes recommendations for future beneficial changes.

You can read the report here. John would appreciate hearing your comments.
Free Episcopal Stickers Available

Show your colors! We have acquired a supply of Episcopal Church stickers for any and all to put on their car, their window, their door, or wherever.  They are free for the taking on tables near the entrances to the church.
New Lawnmower Needed

Treasurer Roger Perna reports that we have collected $150 toward the purchase of new lawnmower.  Please consider donating toward this effort if you are able. We will need to raise $600 to $700 to buy a usable commercial grade mower.
Altar Flowers Beautify Worship

There are many beautiful flowers this time of year that can be used to decorate the altar.  If you would like to give flowers in honor of someone or in memory of someone the donation the donation is only $35.

There is a sign-up sheet on the table by the Belmont door. Or you may call the church office to let the Flower Guild know which Sunday you would like flowers and to let the office know in whose honor or memory the flowers are being donated.

The flower fund is designed to be self-sufficient.  With your donation, we can continue to have lovely flowers on the altar.
