Healing Services Sunday and Wednesday

Absalom Jones

Grace's two monthly Celebrations of Wholeness and Healing are coming Sunday and next Wednesday.  Hawley Todd, TSSF, who will preside over both of these services, says of Sunday's service:

Have you ever struggled with the Cross and "Good Friday" and been left cold by some of the doctrines of the church? If so, you might want to join us at Grace this Sunday for our Celebration of Wholeness and Healing.

I will be taking the lectionary readings for Sunday and looking at them in the context of healing and wholeness. I hope to give a few fresh perspectives.

Join us for either or both of these healing experiences. They may be different in flavor, but their intent is the same: restoring people to wholeness.
$1750 Raised to Send Our Kids to Camp

Absalom Jones

Last week, Senior Warden Roger Perna sent out an appeal for funds to send as many children as possible to Procter Summer Camp during June and July. Eight eight young people from the Grace congregation were identified whom wanted assist: five school aged children and three young people who are graduating from high school this spring.

The money raised so far is just about enough for us to sponsor these eight young people.

There are also many local children that have been identified through Christ's Community in College Hill who would benefit from the Procter Summer Camp program, and, if adequate funds are raised, we will work with CCCH director, Ralph Williams, to see that as many of these children as possible will be given the opportunity to attend camp.

If you would like to participate in helping these children have a summer camp experience, send or bring a check payable to Grace Episcopal Church. Write "Procter Summer Camp" as a memo on your check. Or click here to donate online. Any amount is welcome. We have faith that many of you will respond, and that we will be able to give many children an opportunity to go to camp.

Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music Releases Report on Blessing Same-gender Relationships

The Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music (SCLM) of the Episcopal Church has forwarded to the House of Bishops and the House of Deputies excerpts from its report, "I Will Bless You, and You Will Be a Blessing": Resources for Blessing Same-Gender Relationships.

The excerpts include a theological reflection on blessing same-gender relationships, a proposed liturgical rite, and the legislative resolutions that the SCLM will recommend to the next General Convention of the Episcopal Church in Indianapolis July 5-12.The report, nearly three years in the making, was prepared in response to a resolution  of the 2009 General Convention.

The excerpts are being made available here:
http://houseofdeputies.org/blessingexcerpts

For more information contact SCLM at sclm@episcopalchurch.org

Note that blessing of same-gender unions is a settled issue in the Diocese of Southern Ohio. Bishop Thomas Breidenthal has already authorized the the blessing of same-gender unions in this diocese.
Thank You Very MuchThanks ...

...to Ruth Bertram and Chuck Bowles for cleaning up the office. It is sparkly and much more organized.  Take a look!

... to Junior Warden Wanda Miller for following through on her frustration with our dumpy driveway.  She arranged to get a contractor to add gravel and grade it level so small children and dogs won't get lost in the depressions.  It's nice and level now!

We're sure that we've left out many of the people who deserve our thanks. Let us know who we've missed by clicking eGraceNotes@GraceCollegeHill.org.
