A Thanksgiving Moment from Wanda Miller

These Thanksgiving moments are to remind you that we are in the middle of our Annual Pledging Campaign. We are urging everyone to give thanks monetarily, reflecting your thankfulness in your pledges for the coming year.

You may remember the sound of an old-fashioned cash register. It's cha-ching!  Say it with me.

CHA-CHING!

As I share some of my thankful thoughts for 2012-2013, I'll punctuate them with the sound of that cash register.

I am thankful for continuing to be able to work. I've been a real estate agent for about 36 years and you all know how lucrative that field is just now! I am thankful that I still have the opportunity.

CHA-CHING!

Seventeen years ago, I returned to Procter & Gamble as a part-time employee. I just got a raise at 75 years of age! I am so grateful for having a job and the ability to continue employment. Thank you Lord.

CHA-CHING!

My third job is Junior Warden of Grace Church. You all know how well that pays! Yet maybe this is my greatest paying job of all. I get to do work that furthers our faith, in Jesus' name. It could be scraping wax off candle holders, washing linens, preparing food, whatever. Thank you Lord.

CHA-CHING!

For hearing scripture readings each Sunday. For weekly Bible study. For experiencing EfM. Thank you Lord.

CHA-CHING!

And, the BEST of all is knowing each of you, my extended family. Thank you Lord.

CHA-CHING!

Please consider what you are thankful for as you make your pledge of money for the coming year for Grace Church's continuance and growth.

CHA-CHING!
 Thanks to ...

... all the Grace family who helped make the "Everyone Loves Raymond" day a success! It was Tammy Robertson who came up with the idea, made the publicity graphic  and worked on the show until its completion. J White picked up the ball, promoted it and helped form the committee to work on it and found extra people to do special jobs. Belinda Perna (with her assistant Roger) and another friend, Jane Thompson, ran the whole food operation. Don Wake stood by the projector for hours manually restarting it because it wouldn't loop. The heavy lifting (each of the panels weighed 70 pounds and had to be unloaded and carted up the steps) was done by Bob Jones, Jeff Staples, David Malis and Kevin Stone. All the panels were painted by Lisa Perry, Tammy and Belinda. Holly Danks and Chris Holley Starling helped hang the show. Marjorie Shadd found the nice stage curtain. Grace Staples provided the guest book. Carol and Ken Lyon provided overnight accommodations for our guests, special altar flowers and technical assistance. And last but not least, Susan Bierer and  the Indian Hill Presbyterian Church graciously  loaned us the panels. It was a great day, a wonderful celebration, and a really, really good show. --Mary McLain
... to Bob Jones and Don Wake from Jackie Millay for making the Great Hall a great place to have the ChiKung class.  It was 'made to order', as they say!  Well done, and in the middle of a big wedding!

...
everyone who contributed to make Wednesday's Community Dinner a success, and thank you to everyone who attended for joining us.

... everyone who contributed to make Wednesday's healing service a success, thanks to Hawley for leading the service, and thanks to all attendees for joining us.

... to Bob Jones, Don Wake, Wanda Miller, Roger Perna, J White, and anyone else who assisted for all of the work you did to make sure the sanctuary was presentable for the recent wedding and for all the work you did during the wedding to make sure the bride and groom, their families and the wedding parties had all they needed for the wedding.

Here's what Grace Staples had to say about the meaning of Bishop Prices's ministry to Grace Church:  "Bishop Price was our solid rock, champion and encourager in our time of discouragement and need. He was truly our shepherd. I hope he is proud of us today. Enjoy your well-earned retirement."
