A Prayer for the Murdered Schoolchildren
Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend those who died at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Acknowledge, Lord, the innocent lambs of your own flock. Receive them into the glorious and everliving company of the saints of light. Gracious God, hold in your loving embrace the families, who today are enveloped in unimaginable grief. We ask all this through you Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen
Grace Church Dressed up for Advent

The Advent season has its own pace and its own look. Here, the front of Grace Church has Advent wreaths and planters featuring Red Twig Dogwood, Magnolia leaves and evergreen branches.

At Christmas, we'll get a whole new look, both inside and out.
"Grace Mountain" Razed

That earthen mountain that's been growing weeds next to Grace's parking lot is finally gone, thanks to the efforts of several members.

See before, during and after pictures here.

Pictured are Don Wake, Bob Jones and Ken Lyon, using David Mukasa's Bobcat to move some earth.
 Thanks to ...

... Grace Staples for all the paperwork and preparation she did for the baptisms next Sunday.

... Wanda Miller for donating the paint for the first floor women's bathroom renovation.

... everyone who helped with or donated to the Christmas decoration give-away. We're sure you made Christmas a lot brighter for a lot of people.

... everyone who helped with the Community Dinner planning, advertising, preparation and clean-up last Wednesday. You brightened the day for each person who attended.

... Carol Lyon for the Advent arrangements in the flower pots near the front entrance.
... to everyone who helped with last Wednesday's Healing Service. Most especially, Hawley Todd for leading the service and Bob Laake for leading the drumming.
... everyone on The Bulletin Team for their hard work. December is the hardest month with extra bulletins. Every one on the team worked together to prepare the extra bulletins AND cover for each other for vacations, holiday time with family, etc. Yet, every year they all work together so well to make sure that everything gets done.

... some unnamed "magic bunnies" who fixed the hallway light inside the lower Belmont entrance, and who wired lights in room 5 (the room under the choir room).

... David Mukasa, Don Wake, Bob Smith and Ken Lyon for spending most of Friday razing the mountain next to our parking lot, and to Wanda Miller for providing a wonderful chili lunch.

... Rhonda Sharp for her contributions to this week's eGraceNotes and Grace Notes.
Absalom Jones Altar Flowers

Altar flowers this week donated by Ken & Carol Lyon to honor their daugter Rita's birthday.

Last week's altar flowers were given in honor and memory of Rhonda Sharp's mother, Cloma Partin, who died on December 8, 2004 (1934-2004).
