Proud Mary
To welcome
the Christ child
we lay a red carpet
make wreaths,
Sing cherished hymns:
Emmanuel shall come,
to thee, O Israel. We
Prepare,
Await,
Imagine.
Divine: One of us.
He squalled,
suckled at her breast.
One day pulled up,
eyes wide to a world
of tents, shepherds and date palms.
In time, he crawled, explored,
reached out with chubby hands
discovering the glorious
wonders of His creation,
Near His first birthday -
those hesitant first steps,
holding Joseph's fingers,
sipping goat's milk
from an olive-wood cup
And, like all mothers, Mary,
marked each milestone,
beaming down upon
her beloved son.
Oblivious to the crown
of thorns that would
adorn our precious King.

Thanks to ...
... Bishop Breidenthal and Canon Ann Reed for coming to Grace on Sunday to baptize nine (!) new members of Christ's Church and to receive a new member of the Episcopal Church. ... Dan Pater, our organist for many of our services in late December, for doing double duty on his busy schedule as he dashes from church to church, and to Carolyn Koehl, who is helping with our Christmas Day service.... Grace Staples for all the paperwork and preparation she did for Sunday's baptisms.
... Judy Handy and everyone on The Bulletin Team for their hard work. December is the hardest month with extra bulletins. Every one on the team worked together to prepare the extra bulletins AND cover for each other for vacations, holiday time with family, etc. Yet, every year they all work together so well to make sure that everything gets done.
... Don Wake and Bob Jones for making our facility look extra good for the upcoming special worship services.
... everyone who pitched in to create the reception Sunday for the baptized and the Bishop.
... Ruth Bertram, Roger Perna and Wanda Miller for all the work they did cleaning up the office files last week.
