Let's Send Our Kids to Camp

Now is the time of year to begin thinking about sending our kids to Summer Camp at Procter Center. Many of you will remember that last summer we were able to raise enough money to send eight kids to camp, three from our own congregation and five from the College Hill neighborhood.

The weekly camps for different age groups run from June 7 through August 8. We have set a goal to send a minimum of 12 kids to camp this summer. The cost of camp this summer is $240.00 per child. If you wish to help us accomplish this goal, please send or bring a check payable to Grace Episcopal Church, or click here and make a donation specifying Summer Camp.

To learn more about the Procter Summer Camp program go to youth.diosohio.org and  click on Camp.

Join us in giving our children a wonderful, spiritually meaningful experience at camp this summer. Please send or bring in your contribution to church at your earliest convenience.

Roger Perna, Senior Warden.

 Selected Short Subjects

Last Sunday's 10 am worship was  enhanced by a bell solo by John Thayer. He composed "Sepultus est et Resurrexit" to make good use of the huge bells that he recently acquired.  You can read about handbells and about the huge bass bells in the August 21, 2012 issue of eGraceNotes.

The potted Easter Lilies will continue to decorate our worship space throughout the 50 days of Easter.  After that, the Flower Guild plans to plant them around our church so they can be enjoyed in future years as well. By the way, some of the lilies seem to have walked off. If you know where they went, please let Carol Lyon know.

New pictures of members and friends have been posted to our online Grace Picture Directory.  If you're wondering who some of the new faces are, you can put names with faces here, or you can go to the Grace web site & click on Photo Albums in the left margin.  If your picture is missing, see Ken Lyon after most any 10 am worship service and he'll take your picture.

 Coming Attractions

The online Grace Church Calendar lists most everything we know about that's happening at Grace Church. Here's a snapshot of about a week's worth of the online calendar as of today.  If something's not listed, or if you see errors, please tell the office (office@gracecollegehill.org, 513-541-2415).

Thanks to ...

... Community Dinner Helpers and Attendees, with a special thanks to the Bread Basket for donating bread on a regular basis, as well as Terrill Silva who donated an eggplant dish, as well as Robin and the people who help out in the kitchen, as well as J White and Pastor Rita for coordinating these events, as well as Bob Jones and Don Wake for setting up and taking down the room, as well as Ruth Bertram for helping in the kitchen and with cleanup. We're sure we've missed thanking some folks--this list is getting really long, and that's great!

... Grace Church from Rebecca Born, LISW, of Connections: a Safe Place, for Grace's hospitality in hosting the Restoring Authentic Identity workshop in March. You made us feel welcome and we are so grateful. You set the tone and made a powerful statement about your heart and mission as a church.

... a number of peolpe from Jackie Millay:  To Bob for all your help with Dakota and the new ramp, to April & Gary for helping Dakota get out of the car, to everyone in the physical and in spirit at last Wednesday's Healing/Drumming Service that sent, have been sending, and still are sending healing love blessings to both Dakota and me. Also, to Don for giving me good advice, to J for going above and beyond the call to help me at the TaiChi class. amd to Rhonda, for extra help at the end of class.

Even though everyone who does something special might not get special recognition each week (although we do try), we are aware of how hard members of this congregation work together to keep this church going.  Most of the work done in this church is by volunteers, so thank you to every one in this congregation for keeping our dream of Grace Church alive by your consistent contributions.  None of us could do it unless all of us were working together like we are.
