All Invited to Integrity Cincinnati Meeting at Grace
A letter by Roger Perna, Senior Warden, Grace Church. Dear Bishop Breidenthal,
Grace Church Cincinnati is proud to be able to host the initial meeting symbolizing the rebirth of Integrity Cincinnati. On Friday, April 26, at 7 PM, there will be a service, meeting, and social hour at Grace Episcopal Church. Spearheaded by Brother Michael Childs, BSCD, this will hopefully be a beginning point for the Church to support and be an advocate for the GBLT community. The evening will begin with a service of Holy Eucharist celebrated by the Rev. Tom Fehr. All clergy are invited to concelebrate. The service will be followed by a brief meeting and social hour in the church's Great Hall. The intention of Integrity Cincinnati is to fulfill the vision for the Church to thrive as a beacon of love, justice, and compassion, where all people are equally embraced and empowered. We, the members of Grace Church Cincinnati, are thankful to be part of this effort. |

Let's Send Our Kids to Camp
Now is the time of year to begin thinking about sending our kids to Summer Camp at Procter Center. Many of you will remember that last summer we were able to raise enough money to send eight kids to camp, three from our own congregation and five from the College Hill neighborhood.
The weekly camps for different age groups run from June 7 through August 8. We have set a goal to send a minimum of 12 kids to camp this summer. The cost of camp this summer is $240.00 per child. If you wish to help us accomplish this goal, please send or bring a check payable to Grace Episcopal Church, or click here and make a donation specifying Summer Camp. To learn more about the Procter Summer Camp program go to youth.diosohio.org and click on Camp. Join us in giving our children a wonderful, spiritually meaningful experience at camp this summer. Please send or bring in your contribution to church at your earliest convenience. Roger Perna, Senior Warden. |
Happening at Grace Today (Sunday)
In addition to our usual worship services, two other events are happening today (Sunday) at Grace Church. The members of the New School Montessori Orchestra will be performing individually in recital at 4 pm. The performers are first through six grade students. Admission is free. A goodwill donation to aid the Church's Outreach Programs would be appreciated.
Truth and Destiny Church's 10th Anniversary is being celebrated with a dinner at 4 pm in the Great Hall. Members of Grace are welcome to join in this celebration. Truth and Destiny is an inclusive UCC church that meets in Northside. They have previously used Grace Church facilities to present several seasonal plays. A few years back, Truth and Destiny partnered with Grace Church to present a series of Hip Hop services. You can read more about this church here: truthdestinychurch.org.

The Bible on Immigrants
Given the current national discussion about immigrants, I got to wondering what our Bible has to say about them. I looked up all occurrences of the word and its synonym "aliens" and was surprised to find about 40 places in our Bible that mention immigrants or aliens and how are to be treated.
Typical is Leviticus 19:34: "The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God." You can read all the references in the Grace Church online file cabinet here: gracecollegehill.blogspot.com/2008/06/bible-on-immigrants.htmlKen Lyon

Thanks to ... ... Carol Lyon for leading the Friday Meditation Group meeting, and teaching seven of us a simple form of prayer involving writing a letter to God--and then letting God answer! We received few "thank you's" this week, not, we're sure because there are no folks to thank, but because sometimes we forget to say "thank you." Send your "thank you's" to egracenotes@gracecollegehill.org. Even though everyone who does something special might not get special recognition each week (although we do try), we are aware of how hard members of this congregation work together to keep this church going. Most of the work done in this church is by volunteers, so thank you to every one in this congregation for keeping our dream of Grace Church alive by your consistent contributions. None of us could do it unless all of us were working together like we are. |
Grace Church's eMail List
Want to be part of an "in" group at Grace Church? In this case, we're talking about an email group that we use to communicate items of interest that may not make it into eGraceNotes. It's called GraceLeaders. Members include all Grace officeholders, worship service volunteers, leaders of groups using our facility, as well as others who have expressed an interest in being part of this email conversation. If you'd like to be included, email webmaster@gracecollegehill.org.
