Pentecost Service Has Lively Music, Dance
A larger-than-usual congregation participated enthusiastically in May 19's Pentecost service. It featured rhythmic African songs accompanied by exuberant drumming, a liturgical dance, a bell solo and prayers in eight languages. A well-provisioned and -attended Snack 'n Chat followed the service.
Congratulations to all involved!

Benefit Concert Coming to Grace Wednesday
The Price Hill String Quartet will present a concert at Grace Church on Wednesday, June 5th, at 7 PM to benefit Freedom to Marry Ohio.
Performed in a space designed by the architects of Music Hall, this will be an hour-long concert of contemporary music composed by Cincinnati native Peter Dayton. The event is free, but attendees are encouraged to contribute whatever they can, and the proceeds will go directly to Freedom to Marry Ohio.
Freedom to Marry is a national organization leading the campaign to overturn DOMA, to win gay marriage rights, and educate the public about why marriage matters to same-sex couples and their families.
The Price Hill String Quartet, founded in 2012, is a classical chamber ensemble that offers a new model for community engagement and youth development. Acting on the idea that every neighborhood should have a professional string quartet, the PHSQ aims to make classical music performance and education an integral part of life and culture in Price Hill.
Peter Dayton (BA Music, Vanderbilt University 2012) is a composer of solo, chamber, and large ensemble music. His music has been performed across the U.S. and internationally. His works exploring the connections between music and visual art have been acclaimed by internationally-renowned artists such as Fernando de Szyszlo and John Hitchens, and by the estate of Cincinnati's own Charley Harper.

Most of the work done in this church is by volunteers, so thank you to every one in this congregation for keeping our dream of Grace Church alive by your consistent contributions. None of us could do it without all of us working together. |

The Prayer Shawl Knitting group meets this Thursday at 7pm. The group meets once a month to pray over shawls that have been knitted between meetings, to knit new shawls as well as socialize. You do not need to know how to knit to participate--those who know how are eager to teach you. Prayer shawls are blessed by a priest and then are distributed by the Pastoral Care Team. And the food (breakfast at dinnertime) was good, too. You can support tornado victims through Episcopal Relief & Development's website at episcopalrelief.org.
