Parolees Clean Up at Grace
Pictured above are some of the parolees who came to Grace last Thursday morning to tear out weeds around the building, cut down ivy and do some roto-tilling, among other things. You can see the result of some of their work in the picture--note the absence of weeds on the Garth. Take a walk around the grounds and see the results of their work.
Grace Church members Carol Lyon, Bob Jones and Roger Perna provided the supervision; Grace Staples, Ruth Bertram and J White provided a great lunch.
Parolees come to Grace on the third Thursday of every month to get in their community service time. Their work blesses both them and us. They report that they enjoy making a contribution and talking with Grace people over lunch. Grace certainly benefits from their work, and the Grace people who are involved in this program report that they enjoy interacting with the parolees.

Thanks to ...
... Roger Perna and Don Wake for helping Wanda Miller plant plants to the right of the lower Belmont door-and to Wanda for donating them. ... J White for offering to prepare enough extra food when they cooked for the Community Dinner to provide for the Parolee lunches as well. And to the folks who supervised them and helped prepare their meal (see above article). ... those in the Congregation who prayed for or reached out to Jacque Johnson during her surgery last week. ... Madeena Nolan for her work on the Sunday bulletin and worship slides the last two weeks. Madeena learned a lot of new office technology in a hurry in order to do this. ... everyone who helped with the Community Dinner. A special thanks to those who came on Tuesday night to help with food preparation, to Don Wake who came in on Wednesday afternoon to set up the room, to Bob Jones for his help with set up and clean up, to Robin for cooking, to J. and everyone from Life Renewal Church who helped serve, to everyone who purchased or donated food for the event, to everyone involved in getting the movie and playing it for us, and to everyone who attended. It was a wonderful evening.
Tell us when you know someone should be thanked for their contribution. Email egracenotes@gracecollegehill.org. Even though everyone who does something special may not be recognized each week (although we do try), we are aware of how hard members of this congregation work together to keep this church going. Most of the work done in this church is by volunteers, so thank you to every one in this congregation for keeping our dream of Grace Church alive by your consistent contributions. None of us could do it without all of us working together.

Office Volunteers: Our Daily Face to the World
People who need help often phone or visit Grace Church, and our office volunteers are usually the first people they meet. What they can offer is an understanding ear and (sometimes) advice on other resources who can help them. You may hear about some of these people when their names appear on our prayer list. Rhonda Sharp tells us more: I have people contact me in the office a lot to ask for prayers or to ask questions about the church. A few of them see the good things in Grace Church and begin to attend--some sporadically and some regularly. As the Office Coordinator and the co-chair for the Newcomer Team, I try to keep Grace members updated on the ones who need prayer who begin to build a relationship with the church or a few members of the church. The prayers of this church have made big differences in the lives of many people. Thank you all so much for your commitment to pray for not only our church members but our communities and the world as a whole.

Remembering
Remember that special someone who helped you when you needed it the most? You can donate a bouquet of flowers on the altar on any Sunday in honor or in memory of them.
After the service, you may take the flowers home and give them to that special someone or you may leave them on the altar for the other services to enjoy.
The suggested donation is only $35. All the Sundays between new and December are available. Just sign on the flower sheet by the door or call the church office. Or donate online at gracecollegehill.org/payments.shtml.
The flowers on the altar last Sunday were given in celebration of Pete Staples' 90th birthday by Grace Staples.
