Parolees' Progress

Thursday was a productive day for the parolees that came for their monthly community service day at Grace.

The forms for the new sidewalk from the parking lot to the lower Belmont door are now in place, ready for concrete to be poured.

The recently donated Hosta and Clematis plants are now planted in the Garth, with  some help from Carol & Ken Lyon. Weeds have been sprayed with weed killer, and mulch and Preen have been put down. Take a look!

In the next several issues, we'll be featuring examples of ways that the faith of our members and friends has translated into action.

Save The Dates for Two Kick-offs for the Annual Giving Campaign

Wednesday, September 11, at the Community Dinner

and

Sunday, September 15, after 10 am Worship

Thanks to ...
... everyone who donated school supplies to help the mother who could not buy supplies for her son.  The request went out late Friday evening, and this wonderful congregation worked together to come up all of the supplies he needed by Sunday morning. Not only did we come up with enough for this child, but we came up with enough for three children. We'll keep the extra supplies in the office for others who come here seeking school supplies. If anyone wants to continue to contribute school supplies, we will hold them in the office to fill future requests.

Tell us when you know someone should be thanked for their contribution. Email egracenotes@gracecollegehill.org.

Even though everyone who does something special may not be recognized each week (although we do try), we are aware of how hard members of this congregation work together to keep this church going.  Most of the work done in this church is by volunteers, so thank you to every one in this congregation for keeping our dream of Grace Church alive by your consistent contributions.  None of us could do it without all of us working together.

You can donate a bouquet of flowers on the altar on any Sunday in honor or in memory of anyone. The suggested donation is only $35. Virtually all the Sundays between new and December are available. Just sign on the flower sheet by the door or call the church office. Or donate online at gracecollegehill.org/payments.shtml.

Clean Out Your Kids' Closets; Fill Up Children's Hospital's Clothing Closet

You may or may not know that Children's Hospital residential program has a "clothing closet" at Grace Episcopal Church that consists of donations for kids in the program. Many of our kids come to us from various placements, no family support and a lack of belongings.   I am working to fill it back up after many months of good use from our original donation surge.

If anyone has or knows anyone who has LIGHTLY worn/used clothing, shoes, jackets/coats, etc. please contact me to make arrangements. Please remember to only donate items that are adolescent or child styles and trends (i.e. American Eagle/Hot Topic/Old Navy vs. Banana Republic/JCrew). Of course, they need not to be name brands...just an example of trend preferences. No undergarments, socks, swimsuits please (eww).

Thank you for taking the time to consider this being a significant need for the children living here for many months.
