A spiritual home where all are welcome; a healing place in a broken world.

Our Values
Quick Links

In the next several issues, we'll be featuring examples of ways that the faith of our members and friends has translated into action.

Opening Night!

I loved the kick-off to the Faith in Action Campaign on Wednesday night at the Community Dinner.

I had a chance to talk to almost all of those present at the dinner. I told them take a look around at the displays to see what we did at Grace Church. I told them the slide show also showed what we did at Grace church.

And they told me about themselves. One person told me they used to go to pre-school at Grace church. Another told me they just got out of the hospital because they had been suicidal. I encouraged him to go to the healing service following the dinner. Five people signed up to learn to arrange flowers and be part of the flower guild. Another person said she was homeless. Fortunately, our outreach chair was their and could talk to her about Interfaith Hospitality Network. Others indicated they were interested in the prayer shawl ministry.

Representatives of groups using Grace's facility were there, too.  Several people received a blessing from the Oneness blessing ministry. I met the man who does yoga, who brought his wife and young baby. The Rainbow Band's table had a Mellophone that one Grace parishioner tried out.

It was a great evening.

You have an opportunity to join in the excitement of Faith in Action this Sunday after the worship service. During Snack 'n Chat the ministries will again set up their displays. Please join us and see all of the Lord's work we do.

Grace church ministries included: Communications, Worship, Altar Guild, Flower Guild, Outreach, Building and Grounds, Education for Ministry, Episcopal Healing Ministry, Pastoral Care and Prayer Shawls. Other displays included: Tai chi, Oneness Blessing, Yoga and The Rainbow Band.

See pictures of the displays in the Grace Church photo albums here.

Thanks to Carol Lyon for this article.

Thanks to ...

... all who contributed to the Faith in Action displays and slide presentation at the Community Dinner Wednesday, including Grace Staples, Sam Spade, Ken Lyon, Laurie LeClaire, Bill  Jenne, Judy Handy, Hawley Todd, Carol Lyon and Jay White and the set up team including Roger Perna and Don Wake.  Also, thanks to the groups using Grace Church--Oneness Blessing, The Rainbow Band, Tai chi and Yoga--for their presence and displays.

...Hawley Todd for kicking off another year of EfM--this year with all new materials.
... everyone who helped to plan and carry out the funeral last Thursday, and everyone who came to be a support to John Thayer and to those who could not come but who donated food or other services to make the day and the luncheon as special as possible. Thanks to John for having the courage to stand up and share with us so many wonderful stories from Christine's life. Also thanks to Judy Handy, Madeena Nolan, Grace Staples and Rhonda Sharp for stepping up to help prepare the bulletin.

,,, Roger Perna for filling in to teach Bible Study while Ken Lyon was on vacation the last two weeks.

Tell us when you know someone should be thanked for their contribution. Email egracenotes@gracecollegehill.org.

Even though everyone who does something special may not be recognized each week (although we do try), we are aware of how hard members of this congregation work together to keep this church going.  Most of the work done in this church is by volunteers, so thank you to every one in this congregation for keeping our dream of Grace Church alive by your consistent contributions.  None of us could do it without all of us working together.
Person Sought to Provide Child Care During Sunday Worship

We are seeking a person to provide child care during Sunday worship. If you know of someone with the skills to care for a few infants and very young children, please contact J White (513-532-9362, mizwone@gmail.com). This will be a paid position.

We realize that there may be Sundays when there are no children to care for, however we believe that it's very important that this service be provided for those parents who want it.
The List Dwindles Down to a Precious Few...

These items on the wish list are for the kitchen. The immediate use is for the Community Dinners:
  • 1 freezer
  • Large soup pot preferably with a lid

In addition, the office could use a one-hole punch.

If you have any of these items to donate or if you have gift cards we could use to buy them, you may bring them on Sunday mornings to church, Monday or Tuesday Mornings to the office or between 5 pm and 7 pm the evenings of the Community Dinner. If you have questions, or would like items picked up, please call Carol Lyon (513-919-0542, Spikelyon@gmail.com).

Altar Flowers

The altar flowers this Sunday were given in memory of Christine Zuniga, John Thayer's sister, whose memorial service was last Thursday.

The altar flowers last Sunday were given by Charlotte Battistone, in loving memory of my husband Rudy and our 65th wedding anniversary, and by Judy Handy, in thanksgiving for the 5th anniversary of my successful surgery.

You can donate a bouquet of flowers on the altar on any Sunday in honor or in memory of anyone. The suggested donation is only $35. Virtually all the Sundays between new and December are available. Just sign on the flower sheet by the door or call the church office. Or donate online at gracecollegehill.org/payments.shtml.
