A spiritual home where all are welcome; a healing place in a broken world.

Our Values
Quick Links
During the Faith in Action Annual Giving Campaign, we're featuring examples of ways that the faith of our members and friends has translated into action.
Thank You!

Thank You to all the people who pledged or donated to the Faith in Action Campaign. Your gifts demonstrate your generous heart and your support for what we do at Grace church.

Your generosity resulted in a 27% increase over last years giving. Last year pledging was $44,000. This years giving was $56,500.

Five people who had not previously pledged, pledged this year and nine friends donated.

The generosity of spirit was led by the Annual Giving Committee and Mission Council. Every member contributed to the Faith in Action Campaign.

And, of course, it is never to late to pledge or donate. Simply call the church office at 513-541-2415 or e-mail Carol Lyon at Spikelyon@gmail.com.

Selected Short Subjects

Phillis Dietz is now at home and hopes to be back in church with us soon.

Needed for Grace Church's monthly Community Dinner
  • YOU, to sign up with J White to serve for an hour or more at the next Community Dinner that Grace Church sponsors.  That's Wednesday, November 13, from 5 to 7pm.  Call J NOW at (513) 532-9362.
  • Fixins for the chicken gumbo that Grace Church will be preparing for our next Community Dinner.  You can bring beans or chicken or anything else that goes into a gumbo.  If it's perishable put it in the new freezer at the end of the hallway in the education wing or in a refrigerator in the kitchen.

Get Trained as a Benefit Counselor--Help Community Dinner Guests

There is an opportunity for anyone who would like to be trained as an Ohio Benefit Bank counselor on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 9 AM to 3 PM at "The Healing Center" at the Vineyard Community Church.

The Ohio Benefit Bank is an online service that provides information and registration for services such as Food Stamps, WIC, Health Care, Tax Filing, Veterans benefits, and many other things.  We primarily want to have counselors to work with our guests at our community dinners, but, the OBB can be useful in many aspects of our ministries.

To register for the training session, go the the web site support.ohiobenefits.org,  click on the "OBB Trainings" box.  We could arrange car pools to the training session on the 5th.

I am hoping that several and many people will register and take the training so that we may better serve our neighbors with this service.  Please spread this message to anyone else that you think would be interested.

Roger Perna

Our Newest Member

We had a visit from our newest member and her proud parents last Sunday.  Lisa Perry and Tammy Robertson brought their baby girl Piper to church.  She was greeted enthusiastically.

Altar Flowers

Today's flowers were given by Ken and Carol Lyon in honor of Elizabeth Kelly's 100th birthday.

The flowers were arranged by Carol Lyon and community trainees, Barbara Strum, Keyonte Holt and Brianna Holt.

Keyonte's response after his first session was "That was fun--a great way to start the weekend."

The trainees signed up at the Flower Guild table during the Faith in Action presentations.  If you would like to train to arrange flowers, contact Carol Lyon at 513-919-0542 or e-mail her at spikelyon@gmail.com.

You can donate a bouquet of flowers on the altar on any Sunday in honor of or in memory of anyone. The suggested donation is only $35. Virtually all the Sundays between new and December are available. Just sign on the flower sheet by the door or call the church office or email spikelyon@gmail.com or donate online at  gracecollegehill.org

Thanks to ...

... everyone who assisted with the Community Dinner: those who prepared food on Tuesday night, helped with set-up, helped with final food preparation on Wednesday, helped serve, came to visit with those in attendance, and helped with clean up. This has grown so large that it definitely is a group endeavor, so every bit of help that is offered is appreciated.

... the men and women who came Thursday morning to work with, feed and talk with the parolees who came to fulfill their community service obligations.

Tell us when you know someone should be thanked for their contribution. Email egracenotes@gracecollegehill.org.

Even though everyone who does something special may not be recognized each week (although we do try), we are aware of how hard members of this congregation work together to keep this church going.  Most of the work done in this church is by volunteers, so thank you to every one in this congregation for keeping our dream of Grace Church alive by your consistent contributions.  None of us could do it without all of us working together.

Person Sought to Provide Child Care During Sunday Worship

We are seeking a person to provide child care during Sunday worship. If you know of someone with the skills to care for a few infants and very young children, please contact J White (513-532-9362, mizwone@gmail.com). This will be a paid position.

We realize that there may be Sundays when there are no children to care for, however we believe that it's very important that this service be provided for those parents who want it.

Elizabeth Kelly's Prayer

This weekend, long-time member Elizabeth Kelly is celebrating her 100th birthday. Following is a prayer she shared with us that she has used daily for many years.

Lord Jesus, I come before you, just as I am.

I am sorry for my sins. I repent of my sins, please forgive me.

In your name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me.

I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works.

I give you my entire self.

Lord Jesus, now and forever, I invite you into my life.

Jesus, I accept you as my Lord, God and Savior.

Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul and spirit.

Come Lord Jesus, cover me with your precious blood, and fill me with your Holy Spirit.

I love you, Lord Jesus. I praise you, Jesus. I thank you, Jesus.

I shall follow you every day of my life.

Amen.

Wednesday, November 6th, 7pm at Molly Malone's

What happens when a priest, a scholar and a bishop walk into a bar and answer questions from the patrons for a brand new YouTube channel?  Find out for yourself on November 6th when they all walk into Molly Malone's in Pleasant Ridge.

Join one of the world's greatest living biblical scholars, Dr. Walter Brueggemann, whom Krista Tippett calls, "A kind of rock star in his universe of knowledge."  The Rt Rev. Thomas E. Breidenthal, Bishop of the Diocese of Southern Ohio, who holds a doctorate from Oxford, yet also has a reputation for making even the most complicated ideas easy to grasp.  And The Reverend Jane Gerdsen, who is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and Episcopal Divinity School and is doing amazing work rethinking the church in bold and innovative ways that most of us can't even dream of.

You won't want to miss this opportunity to hear these three extraordinary thinkers discuss questions that they take from the patrons of Molly Malone's on November 6th.  It starts at 7, so come early to get a good seat.
