Cincinnati Flow Arts & Drum Circle Tribe Now Meeting Monthly at Grace
The Cincinnati Flow Arts & Drum Circle Tribe meets outdoors during warmer weather, but when the weather turned colder, they looked for a place to meet indoors, and ended up coming to Grace Center. Two Grace Church regulars attended the last two meetings of the Tribe. Here are their descriptions of what they experienced.
From Hawley Todd:
Last night I had the opportunity to join the Mt Echo Flow Tribe at their monthly celebration. I went last month as well. it was such a blessing to be there! During the winter months it is being held at Grace Church in the Great Hall on the last Saturday of each month.
I am very impressed with how God is moving within this group. It was wonderful to see young children running around Grace and families celebrating together. The majority of folks were in their 20's and 30's. There were some in their 40 and early 50's. I was definitely an old timer.
The group shared a potluck meal together, had a mural for creating community artwork (which will be raffled off to raise canned food donations for the Drop Inn Center), had drummers, and lots of hooping & dancing. It was a real celebration. For many of us, the high point of the evening was a sacred circle gathering to invite God, the Divine, to come and bless and sanctify the community. In particular, those who needed a special blessing or healing gathered in the center of the circle. People like myself who desired to offer healing prayer gathered around those in the center. The whole community held hands and made a huge circle around us all. Kimberly Spivey invoked the Divine and the group chanted Om--a Sanskrit term that I identify with the Logos in the Gospel of John. God was so present--it was a moment when the heavens opened and love showered upon us all.
Those of us in the Grace Community are fortunate to have so many opportunities to experience God in our midst. I am so thankful that the Flow Community has "graced" us with their presence!
From J White:
I too was there! The energy was uplifting and Holy Spirit was throughout Grace. As I reached the top of the stairs to the Great Hall, I was greeted by "Hi Miss J!" There stood several of the children I met last month. Although I am an 'old timer', I treated as an "old friend" by all in the tribe. The tribe members work together to make sure that all feel welcome, free and safe to experience the Good Lord's (God's) love and healing powers. They are a wonderful group of young people that are respectful the space and Grace. They always leave it better than it was. I hope the Flow Tribe will return to Grace every fall and winter. The text inside reads "Grace to you at Christmas." The suggested donation is $5 for a packet of six cards and envelopes. Packets are available at the Snack 'n Chat following Sunday worship. Thanks to Wanda Miller for making this happen. |
Selected Short Subjects
The regular Wednesday night Celebration of Wholeness and Healing (the Healing Service) comes again this week, starting at 7pm. All are welcome to come and participate as the Spirit leads.
Wednesday is also the first of December's free Community Dinners, starting at 5pm and ending at about 7pm. All are invited to enjoy a nice dinner and conversation.
We've received Christmas Greetings from former members Chuck Bowles (now in Atlanta, GA) and Jonathan Tan (now in Sydney, Australia). They both said they are doing well and hope the same from us.
Removing snow from our parking lot with shovels and snow blowers is rather taxing on the volunteers. If you know of someone with a plow who could clear our parking lot when it snows, please call Roger Perna (pernas2@zoomtown.com, 513-290-7309). |
Thanks to ...
... Paul Fogerty, Roger and Belinda Perna and Ken Lyon for clearing the snow from our walks, steps and parking lot Saturday. ... Wanda Miller or starting the effort and to everyone who has assisted in cleaning up the office. It looks much better.Tell us when you know someone should be thanked for their contribution. Email egracenotes@gracecollegehill.org. Even though everyone who does something special may not be recognized each week (although we do try), we are aware of how hard members of this congregation work together to keep this church going. Most of the work done in this church is by volunteers, so thank you to every one in this congregation for keeping our dream of Grace Church alive by your consistent contributions. None of us could do it without all of us working together.

Person Sought to Provide Child Care During Sunday Worship
We are seeking a person to provide child care during Sunday worship. If you know of someone with the skills to care for a few infants and very young children, please contact J White (513-532-9362, mizwone@gmail.com). This will be a paid position. We realize that there may be Sundays when there are no children to care for, however we believe that it's very important that this service be provided for those parents who want it.
