Praying for Grace During Lent
This year, The Grace Prayer and Meditation Group decided to make Praying for Grace its focus for Lent and wrote the beautiful prayer below to use to this end. One of the first results of their prayers was to discern that they should not be the ONLY ones at Grace praying for Grace. The Pray for Grace Committee asks everyone associated with Grace to pray daily, then quietly wait and listen for God's answers--and jot these down and place them in the purple shoe boxes provided for this purpose around the church. As a reminder--there are Pray for Grace magnets and 3x5 cards next to the purple boxes. Take some home! Pray for Grace Prayer O God, you have placed us as your light on the hill. We're at a crossroads. We ask you for a clearer view of your vision for us, so that we may do your will. We pray through the awakening Spirit in us. Amen. During the Sunday Service last week, Carol Lyon reported on her experience with "Praying for Grace." She said that the praying part was easy, but the listening part was more difficult. She said that she needed more practice with that and would work on it some more. Carol also reported that there had already been several 3x5 cards deposited in the boxes and that this was very encouraging. She is posting the results on the bulletin board near the Lower Belmont door as promised. She also thanked everyone who encouraged us to keep up the effort! Each week a different member of the Pray for Grace Committee will be speaking during the service. This week is my turn and I will be sharing my experience with Praying for Grace. I look forward to speaking about how Grace Happens Here.

Thanks to ...
... Robbin Camp (pictured right), who has cooked for virtually every Community Dinner since we began them over a year ago. She comes on Tuesday to prepare food in advance, and again on Wednesday to continue to prepare the food that everyone enjoys. ... to all from the "White ladies," J and Marie White, for all your prayesr, thoughts and energy to help with Marie's continued recovery, healing and return home in good and independent health. You can write or visit Marie at Heritage Springs, Room 1304, 7235 Heritage Springs Drive, West Chester, Ohio 45069-6526.... the people who made the Summit breakfast possible on short notice: Pauline Lutmer, Roger Perna, Ruth Bertram, J. White and Larry Hill.... everyone who helped make the yoga workshop successful last weekend.... Candace Moxley for coming in on Friday to put together the Sunday bulletins. ... everyone who helped with ECOT Testing this week. ... Larry Hill, our temp sexton, for handling the extra responsibilities he had as sexton this week due to the yoga workshop and the ECOT Testing. He had a lot more work to do, and he handled it wonderfully.Even though everyone who does something special may not be recognized each week (although we do try), we are aware of how hard members of this congregation work together to keep this church going. Most of the work done in this church is by volunteers, so thank you to every one in this congregation for keeping our dream of Grace Church alive by your consistent contributions. None of us could do it without all of us working together.
