Praying for Grace During Lent

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God.
Let your good spirit lead me on a level path.

Psalm 143:10

As we continue to pray for Grace during this Lenten Season, we need to realize that this is also a season of TRANSFORMATION! The new partnerships with others who bring their talents and gifts of Spirituality and Healing to GRACE can be reason to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN to what THE GOOD LORD is telling us about how we can best serve HIM and our neighbors as well as ourselves from this place of GRACE.

No matter how tangled our lives may seem, no matter how great a loss you may suffer on this journey, so long as you are breathing and can summon the courage from the HOLY SPIRIT (that lives within) to make a fresh start ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

PLEASE REMEMBER TO STOP, LOOK, LISTEN AND PRAY FOR GRACE DURING OUR SEASON OF TRANSFORMATION.

Thanks to J White for her thoughts on praying for Grace.

The Pray for Grace Committee asks everyone associated with Grace to pray daily, then quietly wait and listen for God's answers--and jot these down and place them in the purple shoe boxes provided for this purpose around the church.  As a reminder--there are Pray for Grace magnets and 3x5 cards next to the purple boxes. Take some home!

Pray for Grace Prayer

O God, you have placed us as your light on the hill.  We're at a crossroads. We ask you for a clearer view of your vision for us, so that we may do your will. We pray through the awakening Spirit in us. Amen.

Cincinnati Flow Arts and Drum Circle Tribe Meets at Grace Saturday
The Cincinnati Flow Arts and Drum Circle Tribe consists of people from all over the greater Cincinnati area (and awesome surrounding cities such as Peebles, Columbus and Dayton!) who love to come together to promote peace, creativity and consciousness growth. Anyone interested in these ideas are welcomed and encouraged to come. Even if you don't want to drum, hoop, spin poi, create art, practice yoga, meditate, sing, dance or do anything but watch, please just come and enjoy the loving atmosphere and maybe get a few hugs. This gathering is family and creative outlet friendly so invite your friends.

If you wish to join the Facebook group to stay updated on different events in the city and make new friends with similar interests please join the group at
facebook.com/groups/CFADCT/

Saturday's agenda looks like this:

6:00 CommUNITY Yoga
7:00 Drumming, flow and food!
8:30 Group OM

Read more about it here:  facebook.com/events/554047457996950. Then consider joining the Tribe for this jam.

Volunteer Opportunities

Maybe that thing you tried in January hasn't worked out and you are ready to try something else. Our Sunday worship services provide several opportunities for you.
  • Usher. We need a couple more ushers. You would get to greet people as they come into the service and make sure they have what they need to worship.
  • Eucharistic Minister. Or perhaps you would like to offer the chalice to the members of the congregation. This is a very meaningful opportunity. And of course, you would be well trained.
  • Altar Guild. Or perhaps you Saturday is an easier day for you to volunteer. We need two or three people who would like to make sure the altar is ready for Sunday by setting up the elements. This is on the job training. It is a way to get to get to know another church member in a casual way.
If any of these opportunities interest you, e-mail Ken Lyon at webmaster@gracecollegehill.org.

Thanks to Carol Lyon for this article.
Altar Flowers

The flowers on the altar this Sunday are given in honor of and gratitude for my son Major Clayton Duncan and his wife Nadia on their 12th wedding anniversary by Candace Moxley.

The flowers on the altar last Sunday were given in loving memory of my mother, Helaine, and my sister, Christine,
by John Thayer.

You can donate a bouquet of flowers on the altar on any Sunday in honor of or in memory of anyone. The suggested donation is only $35. Virtually all the Sundays between new and December are available. Just sign on the flower sheet by the door or call the church office or email spikelyon@gmail.com or donate online at gracecollegehill.org.

  Thanks to ...

... Belinda Perna, who came in a couple of weeks ago and spent three days cleaning up the Great Hall kitchen.

Even though everyone who does something special may not be recognized each week (although we do try), we are aware of how hard members of this congregation work together to keep this church going.  Most of the work done in this church is by volunteers, so thank you to every one in this congregation for keeping our dream of Grace Church alive by your consistent contributions.  None of us could do it without all of us working together.

 Selected Short Subjects

CNKY Scene Magazine will be shooting a cover photo at Grace Church this coming Saturday around 10 am. This LGBT-friendly publication will use the front of our church with its flags (including a rainbow flag) as a backdrop for a picture which will include clergy from a number of welcoming churches.  You can see a recent issue here:  cnkyscene.com.

"Outer Office" and "Inner Office"

In the absence of a rector, we're now calling the former rector's office the "Inner Office." The room where the office volunteers do their thing is now the "Outer Office."

Spirituality and Healing Center at Grace

We've created a new web page that lists the many programs now offered at what we're calling the Spirituality and Healing Center at Grace. Take a look gracecollegehill.org/spiritualityhealing.shtml. You'll be surprised at how much is happening through our many partnerships.
