Toothbrushes, Toothpaste Donated for Homeless People
Grace members and friends donated over 100 toothbrushes, plus toothpaste and dental floss for use by people who really need these things.
The items will be distributed to homeless people via the CincySmiles Foundation's McMicken Dental Clinic.
Maintaining Our Building Gets Our Attention

Have you noticed that most of our hallways have received a new coat of paint, as has the Small Assembly Room?  That's due primarily to the efforts of Sexton Patrick Meade.

Now, he's finding time in his schedule to repair some damaged windows and replace some deteriorated glazing.
Healing hands and open hearts....where do YOU see them?  Find out soon....

J White and Roger Perna have applied for another grant to support the free Community Dinners from the Episcopal Community Services Foundation. Last year, ESCF provided $2,000 to support this ministry. The request this year is for $2,500.

On October 5, the Sunday of the Native American Weekend at our Cathedral (see below), John Thayer, Lisa Perry and Tammy Robertson will be playing a handbell composition by John that incorporates native American melodies

The Prayer & Meditation Group resumes Friday from 11am to noon. Carol Lyon will be leading a guided meditation about accepting the truth--that is, the world as it is.  The group meets in the parlor.

Bill Jenne has resigned from Mission Council.

Bishop Todd O'Neal of House of Joy Christian Ministries is  asking for volunteers to assist with packing and loading books to be sent to Africa. This will take place on September 26th and 27th. The books are at the Feast of Love warehouse, located at 423 Bauer St. 45214 (downtown). If you would like to help out, we would appreciate it. Any questions, call Christ's Community in College Hill at 513-541-0303.

You may have noticed "ECOT Testing" shows up on the Grace Church calendar every once in a while. The Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow is an online public school for grades K thru 12. They use our space to administer state-mandated tests to their students in our area. They'll be back at Grace starting October 7.

Grace is hosting Safe Church Training all day Saturday. Safe Church Training is a Diocese-sponsored training program required of all people in leadership positions or who have regular contact with children.  About ten people will be attending, many from Grace Church.

For those of you who are Linkedin members, Grace Church now has a Linkedin page here: https://www.linkedin.com/company/grace-episcopal-church-cincinnati.

Now you can put your volunteer roles at Grace on your Linkedin page. There is more than one Grace Episcopal Church in Linkedin. Be sure you get the one in Cincinnati.

Native American Spirituality to be Explored at Our Cathedral

As a small congregation, we don't often have the opportunity to have well-known leaders come to inspire us here at Grace.  Happily, Christ Church Cathedral does provide us with opportunities to attend events that we can't sponsor on our own.

One such event is coming up October 3 thru 5 at our Cathedral.  At the Native American Weekend, Bishop Steven Charleston (Choctaw) will explore native American Spirituality and its relationship with Christianity.

Since Grace is a place of Spirituality and Healing this represents a chance for us to learn about the spirituality of the Native Peoples.  Let's get a group together to hear this well-known Native American.  Contact Carol Lyon (spikelyon@gmail.com, 513-919-0542) if you're interested in forming a group to attend all or part of this event.

Read more about it in the Cathedral's newsletter here.

Thanks to Carol Lyon for this article.

Crusade Coming, Hosted by Next Dimension Family Worship Center
Thanks ...

... to Candy Moxley, Roger Perna, J White and Ken Lyon for their efforts to find ways to save big money by reducing our heating bill this coming winter.

... Roger Perna and J White for getting the ESCF grant proposal together to support the Community Dinner.

... Rhonda Sharp for her work in the office, in the face of family obligations that would have shut many of us down.

If you want to thank anyone in the congregation for something they did week (leading the meditation in the Friday Prayer and Meditation group, going above and beyond on a routine responsibility, donating food or cooking for the Community Dinner, etc.) then please send that thank you to Ken Lyon (eGraceNotes@gracecollegehill.org) or the office (office@gracecollegehill.org), so they can be recognized.
